Hi, I'm doing some modifications to the options.html template file. Basically I need to pull the subscriber's email address (in email addy format me(a)somewhere.com) to insert into a form on the users option page. If the list is set to munge email addresses, using <MM-Case-Preserved-User> comes up blank. Is there a code I can use that no matter how the list is set up I can get the member's email address to appear in the proper format? I can probably hack the form script I'm using to convert the <MM-Presentable-User> format, but thought there might be an easier way. Thanks in advance Valerie Whitmore

Inaccessible archives

According to the administration docs, if the list is in use and "Options FollowSymLinks" is enabled, then users should be able to get to the archives. Yet, everyone who tries gets the message, "You don't have permission to access /pipermail/diyspeakers/ on this server." I checked the file permissions, and they appeared to be OK. Non-web interface

I have a few users without web access. I know there's some sort of email interface to Mailman, but I haven't been able to locate any documentation on it. Handy little PHP code

I wanted a Web-Based admin for key select function, so, I put this little bit of PHP code together. (see below) The only major change thing I had to do was CHOWN the mailman/bin/ files to the user:group apache is running as. This hasn't effected any of the other mailman functions. mail loop for digest members

My ISP is running version 2.01 of Mailman on their Linux 7.2 box. I have 2 mailman lists. One is fine. However twice now I have experienced a mail loop where all digest members received the same digest every 1minute or so. The only thing I could do is to delete the list as my ISP could not stop it (as a side note I only have access to the list through the admin web pages and cannot export the membership list which is a MAJOR problem for me to get it backed up- I cannot run scripts on the server). I have found out the following with the mail loop: Both times the last letter in the digest was from the same person and the header was: --------------------------------- First digest causing a mail loop -------------------------------- ------=_NextPart_001_0004_01C20722.AE6062B0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable ------------------------------ Second digest causing the loop: -------------------------------- --__--__-- As you can see, I cannot tell what this is but have seen it on other members posts as well. The other coincedence was that the two mail loops occurred 1 week apart which is the time when the program creates a new archived volume. Not sure if these are related but this is a real problem. When I re-create the list I have to have the server rebooted first or I cannot get into the admin area via my browser. Again not sure what this all means but my ISP is stumped. I wonder if anyone can help with some advice?? WAyne

Reply to not affecting outlook

I have to use Outlook at work, and I'm noticing that it appears that Outlook ignores the Reply-To: header when you hit reply - it replies to the From line. Is it possible to munge the From line as well in Mailman so that all posts appear to be coming from the list itself? I'm running 2.1b1 (I'll get around to updating one of these days). cgi-gid puzzler

Sorry for another post on this issue but I have been through the faq and reread the INSTALL file several times and can't seem to get past this. I did a default install which seemed to go ok until I got the point of testing my new test list. When I did, I got the "Mailman CGI error!!!" page and the "Failure to exec script. WANTED gid 99, GOT gid 48. (Reconfigure to take 48?)" message. OK, I tried reconfiguring with --with-cgi-gid 48. This says that gid 48 doesn't exist. Upon checking my /etc/group gid 48 is there and is assigned to apache which is the group and user that the web server runs under. I also tried 99, same thing. What do I try next? System is RH 7.2 with Apache and Sendmail. All recent rpms. Any help appreciated. -Rob- - Rob and Christine robd'at'ocis.net
